Will Insurance Cover All-on-6 Dental Solutions?

When a patient loses many teeth, All-on-6 solutions and their related procedures, All-on-4 and All-on-8, are perhaps the most effective treatments for restoration. They are permanent, feel and look like real teeth and are stable and strong.

However, it is just natural for patients to wonder about the price of the procedure and whether it is covered under their dental insurance plan.

Well, the answer is yes and no.

Most dental insurance policies do cover All-on-6 dental solutions. However, they almost never cover the whole treatment. At best, the dental insurance policy works as a “discount coupon” that will reduce the cost of the procedure. Exactly how much the reduction in cost would be will depend greatly on your specific dental insurance.

Unfortunately, even with the discount, many people find that they are unable to afford the procedure. This is the main reason why All-on-6 solutions are still rare in the United States. Instead, many people of modest means are either encouraged to obtain dentures instead or they just go without any treatment at all.

We recommend that every patient consult with their insurance company and your dentist about what the actual cost of the procedure will be for you.

However, it is good to know that a less expensive alternative exists for those with no or poor insurance. Many Americans choose to visit Costa Rica and obtain their All-on-6 dental solutions there. The cost of the procedure is so much lower that even if you include the costs for hotel and the plane ticket, you still end up paying much less; often 50% to 70% less than the same procedure in the USA. This is frequently even true for people with a dental plan or dental insurance.

Moreover, in Costa Rica the staff members in dental clinics that serve foreign patients speak fluent English and work with state-of-the-art equipment and materials. Some of these clinics are American owned. You can receive an identical or comparable All-on 6 solution at considerable savings over the same procedure in the United States.

In an ideal world, the need for a procedure would be the only factor that would decide whether a patient gets it or not. However, in the real world, prices, insurance and affordability must be considered. Be sure to evaluate your options with your insurance policy, your dentist, and an alternative option in Costa Rica. We think you’ll agree that a trip to Costa Rica may be the best option for you.
