Dentistry today is both an art and a science, especially when it comes to cosmetic dentistry. New innovations in dental materials and procedures are providing dentists with ever more options.
Zirconia has recently become a popular restorative and enhancing dental material because of its high flexural strength, resistance to fracture, and its ability to mask a darkened tooth structure due to the opaqueness of zirconia, meaning it can closely match the color of adjacent teeth (Zirconia starts out as a metal and is processed into a ceramic glass-like porcelain). It can be milled to a 0.2 mm thickness making it a minimally invasive treatment, and they provide possibly the best looking results.
