I want to tell as many people as possible about my dental experience in Costa Rica. A friend of my did her research on the best places to have dental work done, and settled on Costa Rica. Specifically, Dr. Prada and his staff at DDS Dental Clinic near San Jose. My friend had an excellent experience, having several implants and crowns done. I checked in with her for about a year to make sure all stayed well; it did. I decided to follow in her footsteps and went to them. It seems that I will regret it forever, because some of the damage they did is irreversible.
I had three implants installed, and they misplaced two of them, so as to make them unusable. Worse, Dr. Prada talked me into having them do another procedure on my front tooth, and he said they would need to remove 4 mm of tissue BEHIND THE FRONT TOOTH ONLY. I was so numbed up I couldn’t feel anything, and went back to the States to heal, and wait for them to call me back for the crowns. After a week or two, when the swelling went down, what I felt in my mouth shocked me. I don’t shock easily. They cut out a strip of gum from one canine tooth across the whole mouth to the other canine tooth.
That was in 2017 and that part of my gum is still so tender that I can’t drink hot coffee or bite crusty bread. The took so much tissue off that it created a gap between my two front teeth. So now, when I pronounce a word with an F or TH, spit and air shoot out from between my teeth and hit the inside of my upper lip. And now, when my tongue rests in it’s normal place touching the inside gum line of my upper teeth, I no longer feel a normal flat surface of the two front teeth. What I feel is the round tubular surfaces of where the teeth round out into the roots. And no, they never called me back.
